This year the WWE’s biggest Pay-Per-View event will arrive on March 28, 2010 with Wrestlemania 26. The event will feature a full lineup of superstars in a variety of matches with titles and other stipulations on the line. Fans who witness the event live in Phoenix, Arizona or on Pay-Per-View will surely be treated to a fun night of sports entertainment! See latest available WWE event tickets here.
Current main event Wrestlemania 26 matches include a battle between John Cena and Batista for the WWE Title. This feud has been building up for some time now, due to the fact Cena was robbed of the title at the Elimination Chamber PPV by Batista aka “The Animal”. Also, Chris Jericho will defend his World Heavyweight Title against “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge. Edge is the 2010 Royal Rumble winner and after being out of wrestling action for six months, he’s hungry to regain the title he’s held numerous times before. Jericho is Edge’s former tag team champion partner, who decided to ridicule and insult his former partner during the months Edge was injured.
Other big matches on the card will include WWE Hall of Fame legend Bret “The Hitman” Hart as he battles the WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. It’s not often these days that the Chairman of the company steps into the ring, but this particular match is 12 years in the making. Ever since an infamous “Montreal Screwjob” went down where Bret Hart lost his WWE title in controversial fashion to Shawn Michaels, via Vince McMahon’s backdoor orders, Bret Hart has been looking to bury the hatchet. When he returned to WWE this past year to host WWE Raw, he tried to do so, and did successfully mend things with Shawn Michaels. However, a vindictive and underhanded Vince McMahon chose to snub Bret Hart and kick him down to further insult the legend.
Shawn Michaels will put his career on the line at Wrestlemania 26 when he attempts to give The Undertaker his first ever loss at Wrestlemania. “The Deadman” has a 17-0 record including his defeat of Michaels last year at Wrestlemania 25. The two won a WWE Slammy Award for the match of 2009, but Shawn Michaels wasn’t ready to call that their last match. He found a way to get Undertaker to finally agree to a rematch for this year’s event. Of course, the Undertaker added his own stipulation, that Michaels’ wrestling career will be on the line. So either Michaels will be out of wrestling, or Undertaker will suffer his first ever Wrestlemania loss in this one.
Other matches will include The Miz and Big Show defending their tag team titles against Smackdown stars R-Truth and John Morrison. Triple H will battle the Celtic Warrior Sheamus. There will be a Money in the Bank Ladder match involving 9 wrestlers: Matt Hardy, Drew McIntyre, MVP, Evan Bourne, Christian, Kane, Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, and Jack Swagger. The winner of the “MITB” match will be the one who successfully is able to set up a ladder in the ring, climb it and retrieve a briefcase holding a contract. That contract allows them to cash in for a WWE or World Title opportunity at any time, any place they choose.
Wrestlemania 26 has a prompt start time of around 7PM EST on Sunday, March 28, 2010, and will air live on Pay-Per-View via cable and satellite providers. Wrestlemania 26 may be sold out, but you can still enjoy other live events. See when WWE wrestling events are coming to a town near you!
