Sports and boxing fans got a treat last night from HBO’s latest boxing Pay-Per-View. Last night, nearly 51,000 fans filled up the Dallas Cowboys Stadium to witness “The Event” boxing Pay-Per-View. The anticipated matchup was between boxers Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey. Pacquiao didn’t disappoint as he dominated the WBO world welterweight title defense, throwing aggressive punches throughout the match to capture a telling victory.
When all was said and done, “Pac-Man” had thrown a total of 1,231 punches, while Clottey had just 399 total. The result was an overwhelming decision in favor of the champ. Two judges scored last night’s fight at 119-109, giving Clottey credit for at least one round, while the third judge gave Pacquiao all 12 rounds. A dominant performance for the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world right now.
The victory extends Pacquiao’s record to an impressive 51-3-2, while Clottey falls to 35-4 on his career. It has lead many to question Manny Pacquiao’s next fight to come, will it be a Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather bout?
After last night’s dominant Pac-Man performance, Joshua Clottey was humbled by the loss but Manny Pacquiao was gracious in his win, complimenting his opponent.
“It was not an easy fight. It was hard. He’s a good fighter. He’s so strong I could tell he was looking to land the big shot throughout the fight.” Unfortunately, Clottey spent more time defending and was unable to hit that big shot to take down the world’s greatest.
