It’s time once again for the FIFA World Cup soccer tournament where 32 teams from around the globe will be battling for the championship. The host for this year’s FIFA World Cup is South Africa for 2010. Games will be played in ten different venues including Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Polokwane, Rustenberg and Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth.
The tournament’s 32 teams from a variety of nations are split into eight groups of four teams each. These teams will play one another at least once each for the first several weeks to determine their group points and standings.
Here’s a look at the eight groups for the FIFA tournament in South Africa 2010 categorized by letters A-H.
GROUP A:
France, Mexico, South Africa, Uruguay
GROUP B:
Argentina, Greece, Korea Republic, Nigeria
GROUP C:
Algeria, England, Slovenia, USA
GROUP D:
Australia, Germany, Ghana, Serbia
GROUP E:
Cameroon, Denmark, Japan, Netherlands
GROUP F:
Italy, New Zealand, Paraguay, Slovakia
GROUP G:
Brazil, Cote d’Ivoire, Korea, Portugal
GROUP H:
Chile, Honduras, Spain, Switzerland
The FIFA World Cup schedule kicks off on Friday June 11, 2010 with host country South Africa taking on Mexico in a highly-anticipated game. Team USA sees its first official action on Saturday 6/12/10 against Team England with stars Wayne Rooney (ENG) and Landon Donovan (US) taking to the field. Here’s Team USA’s complete schedule so far:

The FIFA World Cup 2010 soccer tournament will last for a full month with the final game to be played on July 11, 2010 to determine the champions.
